Annie Finch
Annie Finch (b. 1956) is an American poet, librettist, and critic, translator, and editor of poetry known for her explorations of questions of poetic form and for her interest in earth-based spirituality. She is the author of four books of poetry including a translation of the complete poetry of French Renaissance poet Louise Labe. She has also published two books of poetics and edited or coedited five anthologies of poetics. Finch earned a B.A. at Yale University, M.A. in Creative Writing at the University of Houston, and PhD at Stanford University. She has taught at New College of California, the University of Northern Iowa, and Miami University of Ohio, and is currently Professor of English and Director of the Stonecoast Low-Residency MFA Program in Creative Writing at the University of Southern Maine. She also founded the influential "Wom-po" listserve, which now has over 500 members.
