Molly Peacock (born 1947) is an American poet of the "New Formalist" school as well as a nonfiction writer. She was born in Buffalo, New York and presently lives in Toronto, Canada. Her poems have appeared in "The New Yorker", "The Nation", "The New Republic", "Southern Review", "Ohio Review", and "The Best of the Best American Poetry" among others. She is the author of five books of poetry. Peacock received her B.A. magna cum laude from Harpur College at SUNY Binghamton where she was the director of academic advising from 1970 to 1973. She received her M.A. with honors from Johns Hopkins University in 1977. In 1978 she was selected as a poet-in-residence at the Delaware State Arts Council in Wilmington, DE. She has since been Poet-in-Residence at the American Poets’ Corner in New York City and former President of the Poetry Society of America. She is known on Wisconsin Public Radio’s "Here On Earth with Jean Feraca" for her quarterly poetry circles. She has also read her poetry at the Library of Congress, the Unterberg Poetry Center of the 92nd Street Y, Harbourfront (Toronto), and at universities and libraries.
