THE CHILD TO HIS MOTHER, ABSENT

Dearest Mother! Far from thee
Over Land and over Sea,
Dost thou think upon thy Son?
Love and bless thy darling one?

Pray to God, that I may be
Child of Him as child of thee:
Love and please him better still
As I learn to know his will.
